Valmont Shipping Guard Privacy Policy

Valmont Shipping Guard monitors checkout shipping without modifying merchant shipping, product, or market configuration. It uses synthetic Storefront carts and the minimum merchant configuration data needed to monitor buyer-visible shipping options.

Data we process

• Shopify store domain and app installation/session records, including authenticated Shopify staff identifiers and account metadata supplied for app authentication.
• Shopify Markets identifiers, names, region context, and store currency/timezone needed to select monitoring coverage.
• Product and variant identifiers/titles needed to construct synthetic test carts.
• App-defined synthetic destination addresses. These are not customer addresses.
• Buyer-visible delivery option names, types, currencies, prices, scan timestamps, baselines, and incident history.
• A Shopify-issued public Storefront access token, retrieved when needed to run buyer-visible synthetic cart checks. The token is not stored in the app database.
• A merchant-provided alert email if alerts are enabled.

Data V1 does not request

• Orders or order line items.
• Customer names, emails, phone numbers, or addresses.
• Payment card or bank-account data.
• Shopify write access to shipping, markets, or products.

How data is used

Data is used to run synthetic shipping checks, compare current delivery choices with prior healthy evidence, surface regressions, deliver enabled alerts, operate the service, and measure reliability and onboarding.

Retention and deletion

Monitoring history is retained only as needed to provide comparison evidence and incident history. Shop-linked data is deleted when Shopify sends the required shop-redaction request. Sessions are invalidated on uninstall.

Sharing

We do not sell merchant data. Service providers may process limited data solely to host the application, store its database, or deliver enabled alert email.

Security

The app uses authenticated Shopify sessions and webhooks, least-privilege scopes, encrypted transport, access-controlled infrastructure, and data minimization. No service can guarantee absolute security.
